The Belgian Shepherd is the only Kennel Club recognised breed to come in four varieties - these being Tervueren, Groenendael, Laekenois and Malinois. Each type is distinguished from the other by differences in coat colour, texture and length. However, all Belgian Shepherds are fundamentally identical beneath the coat, being elegant, intelligent animals who love their people and have a strong drive to please.
